Artisan Radio is a website dedicated to the art of micro powered, unlicensed, but legal, radio transmission in Canada.
Artisan Radio is also a radio station in its own right, located the Vancouver suburbs of beautiful British Columbia. Our broadcast transmitter on the FM band is certified for over-the-air use under the BETS-1 regulations by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), which governs the radio spectrum. We also maintain an AM transmitter certified for personal use under the RSS-210 regulations.
The content of over-the-air broadcasting in Canada is regulated by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), and it has published exemptions from the requirement of obtaining a broadcast license for BETS-1 use.
All Artisan Radio broadcasting content is in the public domain in Canada.
Our objective is to provide information and historical radio programming that is not available elsewhere.
Our schedule is coming soon. The day is broken into 4 x 6 hour blocks, and is designed to make specific programs more accessible. This will ensure that no matter when your free time is, you should be able to listen to what you want. We change things around periodically, so check it out every once in a while.
An internet stream is coming soon as well.
The Artisan Radio Blog will contain Canadian-oriented resources to assist you, whether you are experienced, or just starting out. There's not much there right now, and if you want to comment, you have to register, but please try it out. We always welcome feedback.
Finally, if you have any concerns with our operation, or programming, please contact us at this e-mail address.
